What is the Tummy Tuck?

This is the perfect surgery for a patient who went into a weight loss program, gained weight with age, or had several pregnancies. If you have excess fat and loose skin in your abdomen that you can't get rid of, a Tummy Tuck ( Abdominoplasty ) may be the best solution for you. A is the surgical procedure where excess fat and loose skin is surgically removed via the "Pull & Tighten Technique" as well as Liposuction to remove excess fat. Muscle tightening is common in Abdominoplasty. This procedure is not recommended if you are planning to have another child. Tummy Tuck surgery will give you a flatter and firmer stomach as well as a well-toned abdomen that can last a lifetime.

How is the Tummy Tuck performed?

The procedure is usually done with regional blockage & IV sedation. The surgeon will make an incision from hip to hip, and then another small incision in the bellybutton. The surgeon will detached the skin from the abdominal wall so he will see the muscle wall and fascia. They will suture the muscles in the abdomen middle line to make it tighter. In most cases, tumescent liposuction is performed together with the Abdominoplasty complimenting the final results. The abdominal skin will be pulled, and excess skin will be removed. The incision will be close with some dissolve stitches, and the surgeon will leave drains for 8-14 days, depends on your recovery. The drains help the body get rid of all the excess watery liquids produce by your body because of the new extra space.
